please explain to me how little girls get the fake gamer girl treatment by grown ass men for MY LITTLE PONY
I would like to see more than one actual example of this, with legitimate verification of its existence.
Likely, what you have encountered is a rare species of asshole that would exist regardless of what media they chose to experience.
Otherwise, this just seems like another empty potshot at the male side of a fan base simply for daring to enjoy something out of the confines of what outdated gender roles would otherwise allow.
If you want notes so badly, you could try a little harder next time, rather than bandwagoning an unjustified stereotype. Kinda sad when it takes a woman to point this out.
I responded to this already but then you added more.
In that post I was literally responding to this video of grown men calling little girls (the target audience) fake fans. Please stop acting like this is some sort of feminist conspiracy. It is literally fact. It actually happened. Men aren’t special for liking this show and you aren’t special for being a woman and pointing “this” out, whatever that means.
There is nothing in my original post that states or implies that it’s wrong to be male and like the show. The only meaning in that post is “what is wrong with adult men telling little girls they’re fake fans when this is My Little Pony, a show that primarily targets little girls.” My incredulity comes more from adults insulting children than any gender role conspiracy you are so quick to attack.
But right, I’m bandwagoning. It’s not like I’m in this fandom and have been for years, witnessing this sort of behavior with my very own eyes.
The worst thing is that the majority of the time adult male fans aren’t even breaking gender stereotypes. Most of the biggest artists are in it for the porn, and arguably the most successful artist from the early days of the fandom still runs a comic about how the idea of Princess Celestia being a fun-loving serial rapist is hilarious.
They do shit like start up youtube channels for ‘the manliest brony’ and defend liking the show as being ‘full of action’ and ‘not girly like the previous gens’. They justify their interest in the show not as just liking it, but liking it because it’s supposedly (in their minds at least) not girly.
There’s no breaking of gender stereotypes at all, just the shitty reinforcement of them in a new environment.
My favorite line from Bronies is “I like it IN SPITE of it’s girliness”
Yeah, that’s sort of missing the whole fucking point.
